Planned Giving Guide
A planned gift involves making a charitable donation that both benefits you and supports a cause you care about. Meet your charitable goals while providing meaningful support to Hillel of Broward and Palm Beach.
Cash, securities or real estate
Donate cash, appreciated real estate or securities
Removes taxable assets from the estate and provides immediate deduction from income taxes and avoids capital gains on the appreciated value
Bequest
Plan now and give later
Donation is exempt from federal estate tax
Retirement Plan Assets or IRA
Name Hillel of Broward and Palm Beach as the beneficiary of the plan or a portion thereof
Donation is exempt from federal estate and income tax. If donor is over 70 ½ years old, they can donate directly from RMD (required minimum distributions)
Life Insurance
Donate old or new policy with Hillel of Broward and Palm Beach named as the beneficiary
Donation is exempt from federal estate tax
Charitable Gift Annuity
Gift contract that provides lifetime payments to one or two persons
Donor receives immediate deduction from income taxes and receives annual or quarterly income while removing taxable assets from the estate
Charitable Remainder Trust (CRUT)
Trust that pays income for life or a set term of years to donor and/or others. Assets ultimately benefit Hillel of Broward and Palm Beach
Removes taxable assets from the estate
Charitable Lead Trust (CLAT)
Trust that makes payments to Hillel for a period of years. Assets ultimately pass to donor or heirs
Removes taxable assets from the estate. Donor receives immediate deduction from income taxes
Making a planned gift to Hillel of Broward and Palm Beach through a bequest in your will or trust requires only that you make your desire known in your legal documents. Speak to your financial and/or legal advisor to determine the appropriate plan for your personal situation.
